Wood Processing Strategy

The New Zealand Government has initiated a Wood Processing Strategy Steering Group to develop a wood processing strategy. The group consists of representatives from central and local government and industry.

The Group aims to accelerate the development of forest products industries and get the best value from the regional expansion in wood available for harvest. This includes developing and implementing integrated response strategies and targeting development barriers with the aim of dramatically improving the business case for investment in value added wood processing in New Zealand. The group hopes this will significantly enhance the international competitiveness of New Zealand's wood fibre based industries.
